Kenny Pickett Breaks Silence on Steelers Ahead of Super Bowl

Just three years into his NFL career, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett is heading to Super Bowl LIX as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. After a dramatic exit from Pittsburgh, Pickett has landed in an ideal situation—playing for his childhood team with a shot at an early championship ring.

Pickett’s departure from the Steelers came after the team signed Russell Wilson, prompting the young quarterback to express his frustration. This led to a trade that sent him to Philadelphia while Pittsburgh acquired Justin Fields in his place.

Now, reflecting on the move, Pickett has no regrets.

“There’s ups and downs, like a lot of guys have around the league,” Pickett told Steelers Now’s Alan Saunders. “I’m grateful for all the people I’ve met [in Pittsburgh]. I wish it would have ended differently, but I’m here now, and I’m really excited to be at this game.”

During his time in Pittsburgh, the Steelers faced challenges, making the playoffs once but never emerging as serious Super Bowl contenders. In Philadelphia, however, the culture is different.

“Every place does it differently, but the ultimate goal is to be here [at the Super Bowl],” Pickett said. “This franchise has a really good plan. Seeing the way guys show up to work every day—there’s no distractions. Guys are locked in, and there’s no secret as to why we’re here.”

Now, Pickett has a chance to prove himself on football’s biggest stage, aiming for a championship with a team built for success.
