Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah Gives Positive Update on JJ McCarthy
The Minnesota Vikings just got some good news about JJ McCarthy as they head into the offseason and prepare for the NFL Draft.
Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah recently shared an update on McCarthy’s recovery from injury, and it sounds like the team is feeling pretty optimistic about their young quarterback.
“We’re really excited about JJ,” Adofo-Mensah told NFL Networks Tom Pelissero. “We identified him early in last year’s draft process—not just for his arm and athleticism, but also for his work ethic and leadership. He’s the kind of guy who represents our culture. He’s got a great attitude, cares about his teammates, and has the mindset we want in a long-term starter.”
McCarthy had a setback with his injury, but Adofo-Mensah says the team is impressed with how he’s handled it. “We’re happy with his progress and moving forward with that in mind. Of course, we’ll always look to add depth and improve the roster, but we’ve built a team that’s quarterback friendly strong running game, solid defense all designed to help a young QB succeed.”
The Vikings seem committed to McCarthy as their future starter, which should give fans some confidence heading into next season.
There were whispers that Minnesota considered Aaron Rodgers in free agency, but Adofo-Mensah made it clear they’re now fully focused on McCarthy. “He looks great right now,” the GM said. “He went through struggles with the injury, but it only proved how much he loves the game. His mentality and drive are exactly why we want him leading this team.”
With McCarthy on the mend and the Vikings backing him as their guy, it looks like Minnesota is ready to roll into the 2025-26 season with their young QB at the helm.
