Revenge: LeBron James Roasts Doug Gottlieb Over Dismal 2-24 Coaching Record

NBA Star Fires Back After Gottlieb’s Harsh Criticism

LeBron James doesn’t forget. When Green Bay men’s basketball coach Doug Gottlieb took aim at James’ parenting and criticized his son, Bronny James, the Lakers superstar stayed patient before delivering a brutal comeback.

LeBron Waits for the Right Moment

Weeks after Gottlieb’s remarks, LeBron finally had the perfect opportunity to respond. A college basketball account on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted Green Bay’s disastrous 2-24 record in Gottlieb’s first season as head coach. That was all James needed to strike back.

Quoting the post, LeBron sarcastically wrote:

“Earned 2 not given! Gotta give him credit though! [Laughing emoji] [Poop emoji]”

With just two wins and the nation’s longest losing streak at the time, Gottlieb’s first season was already under heavy scrutiny. But James’ response amplified the criticism, throwing the struggling coach’s words right back at him.

A Rough Season for Gottlieb

Gottlieb, known for his brash personality and bold takes, has had a tough time in his coaching debut. His decision to continue hosting The Doug Gottlieb Show while coaching has only fueled criticism.

At the time of LeBron’s tweet, Green Bay had lost 18 straight games. Hours later, the Phoenix finally snapped their streak with a 79-68 win over Wright State, securing their first Horizon League victory.

Green Bay Still Struggles, LeBron Gets the Last Laugh

Even with the win, Green Bay’s 3-24 record remains one of the worst in Division I. The team sits at the bottom of the Horizon League, and Gottlieb’s coaching tenure has been widely mocked.

LeBron’s clapback was a reminder that when you take shots at The King or his family, you better be ready to face the consequences—especially if your own record isn’t backing you up.
