The Detroit Lions are heading into OTAs with plenty of fire—and no one’s bringing more of it than cornerback Amik Robertson.
Robertson, who suffered a broken arm early in the Lions’ playoff loss to the Washington Commanders, is on track to return this fall. That injury was a brutal blow, especially after his lockdown performance against Justin Jefferson just a week earlier helped Detroit clinch the NFC North.
Now healthy and fired up, Robertson let the world know how he’s feeling heading into the offseason grind. “No excuses…we wan all smoke,” he posted this week. “I luv this [expletive].”
That kind of energy is exactly what this Lions defense needs. They battled through depth issues in the secondary last season, and Robertson’s absence was felt big time against Washington’s passing attack. The front office made some moves to address those concerns, signing corner DJ Reed and drafting safety Dan Jackson. But Robertson’s return brings back one of the team’s most intense competitors—and a proven playmaker.
Lions fans were quick to rally around him, flooding social media with “One Pride” shouts and Honolulu blue hearts. One fan may have said it best: “Lions play better as an underdog. Let the world talk their trash.”
Robertson isn’t just talking—he’s setting the tone. And if his mindset is any indication, Detroit’s not backing down from anyone in 2025.
