Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown Wants Eagles Matchup to Kick Off 2025 Season

Amon-Ra St. Brown Wants Lions to Open 2025 Season Against Eagles
The Detroit Lions had a historic 15-2 regular season in 2024 but fell short in the playoffs due to injuries. Now, star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is ready for a fresh start—and he wants the Lions to kick off the 2025 NFL season against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaking on The St. Brown Brothers Podcast, St. Brown highlighted the teams that could face Philadelphia in the NFL’s annual Thursday Night Kickoff Game, including the Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Raiders, Rams, Broncos, Commanders, and Lions. He argued that Detroit would be the most exciting matchup.

“Out of all those teams, if you’re the NFL, who are you putting in there?” he asked. His brothers quickly responded, “The Lions.”

Detroit and Philadelphia were the top two teams in the NFC for much of last season, making a potential NFC Championship showdown seem inevitable. But the Lions’ playoff run was cut short by a brutal wave of defensive injuries. St. Brown is eager for Detroit to prove what it can do at full strength, saying, “You would see what our healthy defense, how that s— operates.”

The NFL hasn’t announced the 2025 Week 1 matchup yet, but a Lions vs. Eagles showdown would be must-watch TV. With Jared Goff leading the offense, Aidan Hutchinson anchoring the defense, and a healthy roster, Detroit could give the reigning champs a serious challenge under the bright lights of opening night.

Would you want the Lions and Eagles to kick off the 2025 season?
