Lions Bolster Trenches in Field Yates’ Latest NFL Mock Draft

The Detroit Lions are looking to strengthen their trenches in the upcoming NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. In his latest mock draft, Yates has the Lions targeting Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon with the 28th pick and Georgia offensive lineman Tate Ratledge at No. 60.

Detroit’s focus on both sides of the line makes sense. Injuries hit the defensive front late last season, including Alim McNeill’s torn ACL, while the offensive line is showing signs of age. Harmon, who posted 34 pressures in 2024, would add much-needed pass-rush ability, while Ratledge could help fill the void left by Kevin Zeitler’s departure in free agency. Strengthening the trenches has been a hallmark of GM Brad Holmes’ approach, and this draft could be another step in that direction.
