Lions Bring Back TE Shane Zylstra for 2025 Season
The Detroit Lions are keeping a familiar face in the tight end room. Veteran Shane Zylstra has agreed to re-sign with the team for the 2025 season, per his agency. Contract details have not yet been disclosed.
Zylstra, who converted to tight end after entering the league, has been with Detroit since 2021, bouncing between the active roster and practice squad. In 29 games (three starts), he’s recorded 15 catches for 116 yards and four touchdowns, mostly serving as the team’s third or fourth tight end.
With only Sam LaPorta, Brock Wright, and newly signed Kenny Yeboah under contract, Zylstra’s return provides much-needed depth at the position. He also made a strong impact on special teams last season, logging a career-high 194 snaps. If he continues to excel in that role, he could secure the TE3 spot heading into 2025.
