Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson tried to help his former high school teammate, LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, before Lacy’s tragic death this week. Lacy passed away following a car crash in Harris County, Texas, after a police pursuit. Sadly, police also confirmed Lacy had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound prior to the crash.
Amik Robertson shared text messages he exchanged with Lacy in the months leading up to the incident, offering support and words of encouragement. The two players, who both grew up in Louisiana, had stayed connected throughout their careers.
Lacy, once seen as a promising NFL prospect, had faced legal challenges in recent months, affecting his draft stock. His death has sparked an outpouring of condolences from former LSU players, including Ja’Marr Chase and Odell Beckham Jr. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and all those impacted by his passing.
