Lions Coaches Could Quickly Fall for Gritty UDFA WR Jackson Meeks

The Detroit Lions walked away from the 2025 NFL Draft with several promising prospects, especially at wide receiver. But once the dust settled, they weren’t done adding to the room. Detroit signed two undrafted receivers—Jackson Meeks from Syracuse and Jakobie Keeney-James from UMass. While both are longshots to make the final roster, one of them is already turning heads for the right reasons.

Jackson Meeks has the kind of mindset that Dan Campbell and his staff are known to love. Syracuse head coach Fran Brown didn’t hold back, calling Meeks “a dawg.” That mentality—scrappy, relentless, chip-on-the-shoulder—is something Campbell praises often. It’s the same fire that helped Amon-Ra St. Brown rise from a fourth-rounder to one of the NFL’s most dependable receivers.

Meeks had a solid 2024 campaign, hauling in 77 passes for 1,020 yards and seven touchdowns. He was also second in the nation in contested catches with 21. He’s not a burner, but he wins with physicality and effort—especially in the red zone. Meeks may not have a straight path to playing time, but if anyone can earn it the hard way, it’s him.

Detroit’s receiver room just got a little more competitive, and coaches might not be able to ignore what Meeks brings to the table.
