The Lions are deep into OTAs, and while most of the roster is locked in, a few guys are still trying to carve out their place. One name to watch? Offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal. He’s not just fighting for a spot—he’s changing positions to do it.
With Frank Ragnow sitting out, Detroit shuffled the deck during practice. According to The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy, Sorsdal was spotted getting reps at center—a position he’s never played since being drafted in 2023. It’s a smart move for a player who’s suddenly in a very crowded room. With rookies like Tate Ratledge and Miles Frazier already making waves and veterans like Glasgow, Skipper, and Mahogany also in the mix, Sorsdal needs to show he can offer more than just depth at guard or tackle.
Sorsdal’s been all over the line since arriving from William & Mary, but center is brand new territory. Still, versatility is gold in the NFL. If he can hold his own snapping the ball, that flexibility might just keep him on the 53-man roster when camp ends.
There’s still a long way to go, but it’s clear: Sorsdal isn’t going down without a fight—and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to stay in Detroit.
