Lions Connection: Ex-Detroit CB Coach Lands Job with Jets, Glenn

Former Lions CB Coach Dre Bly Joins Jets Staff Under Aaron Glenn

Former Detroit Lions cornerback and CB coach Dre Bly has landed a new job with the New York Jets, reuniting with former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Bly, who spent one season coaching Detroit’s secondary in 2023, confirmed his move by updating his social media with Jets branding.

Glenn, now the Jets head coach, has already brought multiple ex-Lions staffers to New York, including former pass game coordinator Tanner Engstrand (now Jets OC) and tight ends coach Steve Heiden (now Jets OL coach). While Bly’s exact role remains unclear, his connection with Glenn suggests he’ll play a key part in shaping the Jets’ defense.

Bly, a two-time Pro Bowler (2003-04) with the Lions, had a short coaching stint in Detroit before being replaced by Deshea Townsend. Now, he’ll look to make an impact in New York as Glenn builds his staff.
