Lions Bring in Maryland LB Ruben Hyppolite for Pre-Draft Visit
The Detroit Lions are keeping busy ahead of the NFL Draft, hosting Maryland linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II for a Top-30 visit earlier this month.
Hyppolite, who spent five seasons with the Terrapins, put up solid numbers in 2024 racking up 66 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and an interception. Over his college career, he appeared in 50 games, totaling 236 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and three sacks. Despite his impressive stats, he didn’t receive an invite to the NFL Combine.
With several Lions linebackers on short-term deals, adding fresh talent could be key for new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard.
Hyppolite isn’t the only prospect the Lions have checked out. Other reported visits include Michigan DE Josaiah Stewart, Georgia LB Chaz Chambliss, North Dakota State lineman Grey Zabel, and UC Davis RB Lan Larison.
