Lions Eyeing WR Help in 2025 Draft Despite Strong Core

Even with a solid returning group, don’t be surprised if the Detroit Lions use a 2025 draft pick on a wide receiver. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Tim Patrick, and Kalif Raymond are locked in as the top four targets, but depth beyond them is thin—and coach Dan Campbell knows it. Injuries didn’t hit the position hard last season, but counting on that luck again is risky.

Brad Holmes has drafted a wideout in three of his four years as GM, and this year could be no different. Whether it’s a long-term X-receiver, a speedy Z to possibly replace Williams, or a slot guy with return ability, there’s plenty of intriguing talent. Names like Tetairoa McMillan, Elic Ayomanor, and Jayden Higgins are potential Day 2 targets, while athletic sleepers like Savion Williams or Isaac TeSlaa could offer value later on.

Don’t rule out a receiver at pick 28, but even if it’s a Day 3 move, expect Detroit to add multiple WRs before training camp. This group needs bodies—and maybe the next breakout star.
