The Detroit Lions will have some welcome reinforcements on defense today as they prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings in a pivotal Week 9 matchup. According to the team’s latest depth chart, two starters are returning to the secondary, giving Detroit’s defense a much-needed boost.
After battling injuries in recent weeks, the Lions’ defensive backfield is finally starting to look whole again. Kerby Joseph and Terrion Arnold are both expected to suit up, fortifying a secondary that has been stretched thin since midseason. Their return comes at the perfect time, with rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy and a motivated Vikings offense coming to Ford Field.
Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard now has more flexibility to mix up coverages and get aggressive with blitz packages. With Brian Branch also back from suspension, Detroit’s secondary could be one of the healthiest it’s been all year.
For a Lions team chasing NFC supremacy, this added depth could make all the difference — especially in a game that could shift the balance of the division rac
