Lions Hoping for Timely Return as Taylor Decker Heals From Shoulder Procedure

The Detroit Lions’ offensive line has been a cornerstone of their recent success, and veteran left tackle Taylor Decker is a major part of that. But as the team gears up for training camp and the preseason, Decker’s availability is now a developing story.

Decker recently underwent shoulder surgery, and while the procedure was considered minor, it’s enough to temporarily sideline him. The Lions are taking a cautious approach, with hopes that he’ll return to practice following the Hall of Fame Game against the Houston Texans on August 3.

Now entering his 9th season, Decker remains one of the team’s most reliable linemen and a trusted protector of quarterback Jared Goff. His leadership and presence are just as valuable off the field as they are in the trenches. While the timeline isn’t considered alarming, the Lions will certainly be keeping a close eye on his recovery.

With depth and continuity critical for Detroit’s offensive line, Decker’s progress could have ripple effects across the unit during the early part of camp. For now, the hope is he’ll be ready to roll not long after the team opens its preseason slate.
