Lions Keep Ford Field Name Under New Sponsorship Deal Through 2036

The Detroit Lions have extended their naming rights agreement with Ford Motor Company for Ford Field through the 2036 season, continuing a partnership that began in 2002. This extension ensures that the stadium, which has hosted significant events like Super Bowl XL and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four, will continue to bear the Ford name for years to come.

To commemorate the announcement, the Lions released a video featuring notable Detroit figures, including musicians Big Sean and Kid Rock, head coach Dan Campbell, Hall of Famer Barry Sanders, and current running back David Montgomery. The video showcases these individuals discussing their favorite moments at Ford Field and its significance to the city of Detroit.

However, the inclusion of Kid Rock in the promotional material has sparked controversy among fans. Many expressed their discontent on social media, questioning his representation of Detroit and suggesting other artists like Eminem would have been more appropriate. This backlash highlights the complex relationship between public figures and their perceived affiliations within the community.

Despite the mixed reactions, the renewed partnership between the Detroit Lions and Ford Motor Company underscores a continued commitment to the city’s heritage and the ongoing development of its sports culture.
