The Detroit Lions have officially put the finishing touch on their 2025 rookie class by signing second-round pick Tate Ratledge to his rookie deal. The former Georgia Bulldogs standout now joins the team just in time for the start of training camp, giving Jared Goff and the offense another big piece up front.
Ratledge, a powerful and technically sound guard, was selected 61st overall and is expected to compete right away for a key rotational role — and potentially even a starting spot. At Georgia, he made a name for himself as one of the most dependable interior linemen in college football, known for his run-blocking strength and pass protection skills.
By securing Ratledge, Detroit now has all of its 2025 draft picks under contract. The timing couldn’t be better, as the team ramps up preparation for what’s expected to be a high-pressure season following last year’s playoff run.
With Ratledge officially in the fold, all eyes will be on how quickly he can adapt to the NFL speed and carve out his place in a crowded but talented offensive line room. One thing’s for sure — the Lions aren’t taking any chances when it comes to protecting their franchise quarterback.
