Detroit Lions Could Release Hendon Hooker This Offseason
As the Detroit Lions prepare for the 2025 season, one of the lingering questions is the future of backup quarterback Hendon Hooker. Drafted with potential, Hooker, 27, has seen limited action, throwing just nine passes in two seasons with the Lions. With Jared Goff firmly entrenched as the starter and the recent addition of Teddy Bridgewater, Hooker’s role has diminished.
Financially, Hooker’s $1.3 million unguaranteed salary for 2025 isn’t significant, but the Lions could cut him to create cap space for other improvements. With Bridgewater now the preferred backup, it seems likely Hooker’s time in Detroit could be coming to an end.
