Lions Exploring Options to Replace Kevin Zeitler
The Lions are figuring out how to fill the gap left by veteran guard Kevin Zeitler, who had a strong season in Detroit but signed a $9 million deal with the Titans.
Right now, the team is looking at several internal options, especially Christian Mahogany and Graham Glasgow. Mahogany made a solid impression in two starts as a rookie, while Glasgow had a rocky finish to last season but brings experience and flexibility he can play both guard and center.
Head coach Dan Campbell says they’re keeping an open mind and plan to move guys around in camp to see who fits where. There’s also some talk about trying Giovanni Manu at guard. Manu, a massive, athletic lineman drafted in the fourth round out of British Columbia last year, mostly worked on the scout team in 2024. With tackle spots locked down by Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell, guard might be his best shot.
General manager Brad Holmes thinks Mahogany could play on either side, but he’s still young and needs to compete. The team brought back Yode Awosika and is open to adding another veteran or a draft pick to the mix. Holmes says the goal is simple: keep the offensive line strong.
No decisions have been made yet, but the Lions are looking at all their options through camp, the draft, and possibly free agency to find the best fit.
