Lions President Sets the Tone for 2025: ‘Injuries Won’t Define Us

Detroit Lions President Rod Wood is putting the team’s injury-plagued 2024 season in the past. Speaking at the NFL Annual League Meetings, Wood acknowledged the toll injuries took on the team last year but made it clear he doesn’t expect history to repeat itself in 2025. Using a movie reference from The World According to Garp, he compared the Lions’ injury struggles to a freak accident that won’t happen again.

The 2024 season saw the Lions lead the NFL in players placed on injured reserve, with key contributors like Aidan Hutchinson and multiple secondary players missing time. Despite that, they still won 15 games, claimed the NFC North title, and reached the NFC Championship Game. With a healthier roster in 2025, the Lions could be even more dangerous as they aim to take the next step toward a Super Bowl.
