Lions Represent Big Time — 8 Players Land on CBS’s Top 100!

Detroit Lions Flex Hard: 8 Players Make CBS Sports’ Top 100 List for 2025!

CBS Sports just dropped their annual Top 100 players list for the 2025 NFL season, and guess what? The Detroit Lions aren’t playing around — eight of their stars made the cut! But only one, defensive beast Aidan Hutchinson, cracked the Top 20.

Hutchinson: The Defensive Menace

Aidan Hutchinson is the pride of Detroit, ranking #15 this year — a big jump from #47 last year. The only edge rusher ahead of him? Browns’ Myles Garrett, who’s basically redefining the game with a \$160 million contract and 14 sacks last season. Hutchinson was tearing it up with 7.5 sacks in just five games before injury sidelined him, and CBS expects him to be a Defensive Player of the Year contender once healthy.

Penei Sewell Holding It Down at OT

Penei Sewell slid a bit, from #17 down to #21, which was a head-scratcher for many. The guy anchored one of the league’s best offensive lines, helping Detroit snag the #2 total offense spot behind the Ravens. Even with some drop in his pass-blocking grades, his run blocking is “exceptional.” Plus, he’s hitting the gym hard this offseason to get even stronger with Frank Ragnow gone.

Jahmyr Gibbs: The Secret Weapon

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs comes in at #32, right behind heavy hitters like Saquon Barkley (#3) and Derrick Henry (#14). When David Montgomery was injured, Gibbs stepped up big time with 365 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns in just three games — and that’s only scratching the surface. With his old college coach now in Detroit as his mentor, expect Gibbs to blow up this season.

Amon-Ra St. Brown: The Underrated Superstar

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown landed at #58, which feels way too low for a guy with 115 catches, 1,263 yards, and 12 touchdowns last year. He’s a Pro Bowl staple and an All-Pro vet, but CBS ranked him below rookies and other top receivers with lesser stats — definitely a head-scratcher. But hey, St. Brown loves the challenge and uses these “snubs” as fuel to ball even harder.

Safety Duo Dominates

Detroit’s safety tandem, Kerby Joseph (#60) and Brian Branch (#65), are the real deal. Joseph led the league with nine interceptions and snagged an All-Pro nod, while Branch racked up 109 tackles and forced turnovers. Oddly, CBS ranked Baltimore’s Kyle Hamilton higher, despite Detroit’s duo putting up more impressive stats.

Jared Goff’s Spot on the List

QB Jared Goff came in at #77 — a tiny slip from last year’s #76. He threw for over 4,600 yards and 37 touchdowns, leading the NFL’s highest-scoring offense. Still, CBS put eight other QBs ahead, including rookie Jayden Daniels at #33, which made some fans raise an eyebrow.

Tight End Sam LaPorta

Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta is climbing, coming in at #86 after a stellar season with 60 catches and seven touchdowns. Though his ranking dropped from last year, it’s clear he’s on the rise alongside other great tight ends like Brock Bowers and George Kittle.

Coach Dan Campbell’s motto for the Lions? Bounce back harder every time you get knocked down. These rankings just fire up the team more — because they’re not here for jokes. The mission is crystal clear: Super Bowl or bust. And Lions fans, this year might just be the one.
