After decades of rebuilding, heartbreak, and cautious optimism, the Detroit Lions have officially arrived — at least according to the oddsmakers.
With NFL training camps just weeks away, sportsbooks have released updated division futures for the 2025 season, and the Lions are roaring back to the top of the NFC North odds board. Most major betting outlets currently list Detroit as the favorite to win the division, a sign of both their recent resurgence and growing national respect.
2025 NFC North Division Odds (via FanDuel & DraftKings):
Detroit Lions: +130
Green Bay Packers: +200
Minnesota Vikings: +350
Chicago Bears: +600
The Lions’ status as favorites isn’t just a reflection of last season’s success — it’s a testament to the team’s consistency, culture shift under head coach Dan Campbell, and the continued development of quarterback Jared Goff. Detroit finished the 2024 regular season with an 11-6 record, claiming the NFC North crown for the first time since 1993 and advancing to the NFC Championship game before falling short.
Now, expectations are higher than ever.
“I think we’re built to win now and keep winning,” said Campbell during a recent interview. “But we’re not interested in predictions — we’re focused on execution.”
That execution is getting easier with a strong supporting cast. Goff returns with key weapons like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, and tight end Sam LaPorta, while the defense — long a weakness for Detroit — has shown marked improvement, especially with the addition of new coordinator Ryan Nielsen and several high-upside draft picks.
Still, the road won’t be easy.
The Packers remain a serious threat behind rising quarterback Jordan Love and a stout defense. Minnesota is in a transitional phase but could surprise if rookie QB J.J. McCarthy settles in quickly. And the Bears, while still rebuilding, have generated buzz with the arrival of top overall pick Caleb Williams.
But for now, Detroit leads the pack — and fans are embracing it.
“This feels different,” said longtime Lions fan Mark Radley. “For once, we’re not just hoping to be competitive. We’re expected to win — and we should.”
The 2025 season is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated in recent memory for Lions fans, with division dominance no longer a dream but an expectation.
If the odds are right, the roar in Detroit is just getting started.
