Lions Rookie Ahmed Hassanein Vows Comeback After Tough Injury Blow

Detroit Lions rookie Ahmed Hassanein was one of the coolest stories of training camp — a late-round pick who showed energy, toughness, and a real knack for making plays. But just as fans were starting to get excited about him, football reminded us how cruel it can be.

The defensive end suffered a pectoral injury that could keep him out for much — if not all — of the 2025 season. For a rookie fighting to prove himself, that’s a brutal blow.

But instead of sulking, Hassanein turned to his faith. On Sunday, he posted an emotional message on Instagram, thanking God that the injury won’t require surgery and vowing to come back stronger than ever.

“God is good, I’m blessed,” Hassanein wrote. “I may not understand but I truly trust the Lord’s timing… I will be back. Hungrier than I ever been.”

He even shared Bible verses that guide him, including Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This setback hurts, no doubt. Coaches had praised his effort and teammates loved his energy. But the way Hassanein is handling it — with positivity, faith, and fire — makes it clear he’s not done.

He’ll be back. And when he is, don’t be surprised if he plays with a little extra edge.
