Lions Score Extra Draft Pick Thanks to Aaron Glenn Hire

The Lions have officially gained an extra draft pick thanks to the departure of Aaron Glenn. The team will now have the 102nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, marking the 38th and final pick of the third round. This compensatory pick came about because Glenn was hired as head coach for the New York Jets in December after four seasons as the Lions’ defensive coordinator. The NFL awards these picks to teams that help develop minority candidates for head coaching and executive positions.

With this pick added to their roster, the Lions now have a solid collection of draft picks: No. 28, No. 60, No. 102, No. 130, No. 196, No. 228, and No. 244. This helps fill the void left by the trade of their original third-round pick, which was used to move up and select offensive lineman Giovanni Manu in 2024.
