Lions’ Secondary Watch: 5 Corners to Know Before the 2025 Draft

The Detroit Lions have done a serious overhaul of their cornerback group over the past year. GM Brad Holmes used a first- and second-round pick on CBs in last year’s draft and added a handful of vets this offseason, giving Detroit a nice mix of young talent and proven experience at the position.

That said, Holmes has never been shy about loading up on a position if the right player’s there. And given how often cornerbacks get banged up during the season, it’s smart to keep that depth stacked.

So even though corner isn’t a top priority for the Lions in the 2025 NFL Draft, here are five CB prospects who could make sense if they’re still on the board when Detroit’s on the clock:

1. Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky)
5-11, 183 lbs | 4.28 40-yard dash
Hairston has speed to burn and some legit ballhawk instincts—six INTs, three pick-sixes, and 10 pass breakups in 20 starts. The big question is whether his smaller frame can hold up against the run.

2. Azareye’h Thomas (Florida State)
6-1½, 197 lbs | 4.58 40 (pro day)
He’s not the fastest guy, but Thomas has size, length, and excels in press-man coverage. His technique at the line helps mask any concerns about deep speed.

3. Trey Amos (Mississippi)
6-1, 195 lbs | 4.43 40
Amos is long, fast, and versatile—just what you want in a modern CB. He held his own in the SEC last year with 3 picks and 13 PBUs. He’s solid in man and zone alike.

4. Shavon Revel Jr. (East Carolina)
6-2, 194 lbs | recovering from ACL injury
Big, long, athletic—Revel has all the physical tools teams love. He’s working back from a torn ACL, but once healthy, he projects as a special teams contributor who could grow into a defensive role quickly.

5. Benjamin Morrison (Notre Dame)
6-0, 193 lbs | recovering from hip injury
Morrison didn’t run the 40 but his ball production speaks volumes—nine career picks in just 31 games. He’s hosting a private pro day soon, which could help lock in his draft stock.

Bottom line: cornerback might not be an urgent need, but don’t be surprised if Holmes pulls the trigger on one of these guys anyway. With how the NFL season plays out, there’s no such thing as having too many solid corners.
