Lions Seek Redemption and Are Favored More Than Ever at Ford Field

Detroit enters Week 12 with its largest home spread of the season as it eyes a critical rebound against the New York Giants.

Detroit Aims to Rebound After Offensive Setback

Fresh off a troubling offensive showing against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Detroit Lions are determined to steady the ship as they close out a three-game stretch against NFC East opponents. After alternating wins and losses over their last six games, Detroit sits at 6-4 and currently finds itself just outside the playoff picture.

But despite the inconsistency, oddsmakers see a prime opportunity for the Lions to get back on track.

Heaviest Home Favorite of the Season

According to FanDuel’s early-week odds, Detroit opens as a 10.5-point favorite over the New York Giants — the biggest point spread the Lions have held at Ford Field this season. The only game that matched this margin came on the road earlier this year against the Cincinnati Bengals, making Sunday’s matchup Detroit’s most heavily favored home contest to date.

Detroit hasn’t dropped consecutive regular-season games since October 2022, and the betting market suggests confidence that the streak will continue.

Giants in Turmoil as Injuries Pile Up

The Giants limp into Detroit with a 2-9 record and a five-game losing skid. Their latest defeat came in interim head coach Mike Kafka’s debut after the team dismissed Brian Daboll on November 10.

Despite starting backup quarterback Jameis Winston against Green Bay — with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart sidelined in concussion protocol — New York managed to stay competitive. The Giants are hopeful Dart will be available this week, but injuries continue to hinder their offensive potential. Season-ending blows to running back Cam Skattebo and wide receiver Malik Nabers have forced the unit to operate well below full strength.

As a result, New York enters the matchup with a bottom-10 scoring offense and a bottom-four scoring defense.

History on Detroit’s Side

Sunday marks the 48th meeting between the Lions and Giants, with Detroit holding a 25-21-1 edge in the all-time series. Recent history also favors the Lions, who have won three straight matchups, including Dan Campbell’s lone meeting against New York — a 31-18 victory in 2022.

The Giants, meanwhile, haven’t tasted victory at Ford Field since an overtime win back in 2013.

Detroit now has a chance to stabilize its season, reclaim momentum, and strengthen its playoff bid. And if early odds are any indication, expectations inside Ford Field will be as high as they’ve been all year.
