Blockbuster Lions Trade Proposal Lands 4-Time All-Pro DE in ‘Big Splash’
The Detroit Lions have meticulously built a competitive roster over the past few seasons, transforming from a bottom-tier team to a Super Bowl contender. However, some analysts believe the team could make a “big splash” this offseason with a major trade.
One such possibility? Acquiring Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett. According to Jeff Risdon of USA Today’s Lions Wire, although Garrett may not be easily available, a deal could be on the table if Detroit offers a massive package of picks.
A Potential Trade:
Risdon suggests the Lions could offer two first-round picks (one from 2025 and one from 2026), third-round picks from both drafts, and defensive tackle Brodric Martin. In return, Detroit would receive Garrett, along with a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 second-round pick.
While the Browns are unlikely to part with Garrett, given his status as one of the NFL’s premier defensive players, the move would be a game-changer for the Lions. Garrett, who has been named to the Pro Bowl for five consecutive years and earned All-Pro honors in four of those seasons, would give the Lions a much-needed edge rusher to complement Aidan Hutchinson.
Will the Browns Trade Garrett?
Despite the speculation, NFL insider Daniel Jeremiah has indicated that the Browns are expected to hold onto Garrett. “The expectation around the league is that he’s not going anywhere,” Jeremiah said, adding that the Browns will likely continue rebuilding around their defensive star.
However, that doesn’t mean the Lions will shy away from pursuing the deal. Jeremiah believes that if Detroit’s front office is serious about winning now, adding Garrett could be the missing piece to bring home a championship.
