Lions Shake Up Roster: New OL Signed, TE Hits IR, Ex-Ravens QB Joins Practice Squad

The Detroit Lions are shaking up their roster as Week 3 approaches, making a series of moves that affect both depth and flexibility.

The team officially announced the signing of offensive lineman Trystan Colon to the active roster. Colon, who brings versatility and experience, will be expected to provide immediate depth in Detroit’s offensive line rotation—an area the Lions value highly given the physical demands of their run-heavy system.

On the flip side, the Lions were dealt a setback at tight end. Shane Zylstra has been placed on injured reserve, leaving a hole in Detroit’s tight end room. While the Lions still have reliable playmakers at the position, Zylstra’s absence takes away a key depth piece and a player who could contribute both as a blocker and a red-zone option.

Detroit also added some intrigue to their practice squad with the signing of a former Baltimore Ravens quarterback turned wide receiver. While not a move that will shake the league, it’s a savvy depth addition that could give the Lions another developmental option and someone versatile enough to help in a variety of ways if called upon.

For fans, these moves highlight two things: Detroit’s willingness to stay aggressive in building depth and the reality that injuries can shuffle plans in a hurry. As the season heats up, keeping the roster balanced and flexible will be critical to sustaining their momentum.
