The Detroit Lions made a tough roster decision on Tuesday, waiving wide receiver Antoine Green to stay under the 90-man offseason limit.
Green, a 2023 seventh-round pick, showed flashes of potential early in his career but was ultimately derailed by injuries. He appeared in nine games as a rookie, mostly contributing on special teams and catching just one pass for two yards. Hopes were high going into last year’s preseason, but a neck injury and concussion ended his season before it really started.
Since then, Detroit has reshaped its wide receiver room. The team re-signed veteran Tim Patrick, brought in Ronnie Bell through free agency, and added two more receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft—Isaac TeSlaa in the third round and Dominic Lovett in the seventh. They also agreed to terms with UDFAs Jackson Meeks (Syracuse) and Jakobie Keeney-James (UMass), making the position group increasingly competitive.
With all the new faces in the building, Green became the odd man out. He’ll now hit waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he’ll be free to sign with another team looking for wide receiver depth.
