Lonely Offseason for Former Mets Star: ‘I Haven’t Heard a Peep

Mark Canha, a versatile outfielder who played for the Mets, Tigers, and Giants over the last few seasons, is finding himself in a quiet offseason. Despite being a reliable player in the past, Canha hasn’t received many calls from teams. He shared with The New York Post that it’s been pretty slow, but he expects things to pick up after the holidays.

Last year, Canha posted a .242 average with 7 homers and 42 RBIs over 125 games. At 36, he’s aware his career might be winding down, but he’s still eager to play. While his numbers dipped in some key areas, he’s hopeful he’ll land with a team, especially since he can provide value as a platoon bat and a solid defender at both corner outfield spots and first base.

Canha’s not sweating it just yet, though. He’s staying patient, hoping for a spot in spring training where he can show what he’s got.
