Mark Sears had an impressive run with the Alabama Crimson Tide in his final season of college basketball, helping them make it to the Elite Eight. Along the way, they beat teams like BYU, Saint Mary’s, and Robert Morris, though they eventually lost to top-ranked Duke.

After the season, Alabama made a big announcement on social media: Sears had earned a spot as one of the Top 5 candidates for the prestigious Wooden Award, which honors the best player in college basketball. Other finalists include Johni Broome from Auburn, Cooper Flagg from Duke, Braden Smith from Purdue, and Walter Clayton Jr. from Florida.

Sears, who played two seasons at Ohio before joining Alabama for three seasons, wrapped up his college career with solid numbers—18.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. He played a huge part in Alabama’s big wins over teams like North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Auburn.
