Masterclass at The Colosseum: Larson Leads 277 Laps to Xfinity Victory

The No. 17 Chevrolet was untouchable as Larson carved up the field at Bristol.

Kyle Larson’s Traffic Dance at Bristol

If you’re looking for a clinic on how to dominate a race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson just handed out the syllabus. On Saturday, behind the wheel of the No. 17 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Larson delivered an absolute masterclass in the SciAps 300 Xfinity Series race—leading a jaw-dropping 277 of 300 laps.

It was pure brilliance. Larson weaved through traffic like it was rush hour and he had the only green light. Contenders came and went, but no one had anything close to his pace.

Back-to-Back Grind, One Huge Win

This win didn’t happen in isolation. Larson had just come off a second-place finish in the WEATHER Guard Truck Race the night before and was already eyeing a top-three start in Sunday’s Cup Series race. Talk about stamina.

“Thanks to everyone at [Hendrick Motorsports] for what they do,” Larson said, soaking in the cheers after some celebratory burnouts. “It’s just another really good car.”

And as for Bristol itself? “I just love this place, especially in Xfinity,” he added. “Moving around in the traffic is a lot of fun. I wish I could have won last night. We look forward to having a great car tomorrow.”

Rookie Shine & Familiar Faces Behind

While Larson took the spotlight, JR Motorsports made sure the rest of the podium had their stamp all over it. Rookie Carson Kvapil looked solid in second, just over two seconds behind Larson.

“We made it better and better every pit stop,” Kvapil said. “There was so much traffic, it was hard to get anything done.”

Veteran Justin Allgaier came home third but snagged a hefty consolation prize: the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus—his seventh time winning it. “It’s always great what Xfinity does for this sport,” he said. “I’m bummed a little but to come home third. It just felt like we needed a little bit more to keep up Kyle. His pace in traffic was phenomenal.”

Sammy Smith and Brandon Jones rounded out the top five, holding their own in a field where Larson made everyone look like they were driving in slow motion.

Hard Hits Before the Glory

Not everything was smooth, though. The race saw a scary red-flag moment when Brennan Poole and Sheldon Creed—both Dash 4 Cash contenders—collided hard on the frontstretch.

“It knocked the air out of me there for a second,” Creed said. He ended up in 37th. Poole, who finished 36th, reflected, “I was in the top lane and already back in the gas… Hate that two Dash 4 Cash cars got into it.”

Larson’s Legacy Grows

The win marks Larson’s second Xfinity Series victory at Bristol and the 16th of his Xfinity career. Not bad for someone juggling multiple series and still finding the speed to leave everyone else behind.

And yes, he also bagged the pole earlier that day with a blistering lap of 126.287 mph.

At a track dubbed The Last Great Colosseum, Kyle Larson played gladiator, and the rest of the field never stood a chance.
