Matthew Stafford’s Next Chapter: Rams Weigh in on Ex-Lions QB’s Future

Matthew Stafford Stays Put: Rams Lock In Their QB for Another Season

After weeks of speculation, the Los Angeles Rams have made it official—Matthew Stafford isn’t going anywhere. The former Lions quarterback has drawn interest from teams in need of a veteran signal-caller, but the Rams have put an end to any trade rumors by restructuring his deal and keeping him in L.A.

The team made the announcement with a social media post on February 28, featuring Stafford in uniform alongside the caption, “Allow me to reintroduce myself.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter also confirmed the news, calling it “the first major QB domino” of the offseason.

Stafford, who helped lead the Rams to a Super Bowl win in 2022, had a solid 2024 season, throwing for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions while helping L.A. clinch the NFC West title. Head coach Sean McVay has repeatedly praised Stafford’s leadership, calling his impact on the team “immeasurable.”

With free agency looming, teams like the Raiders and Giants will now have to look elsewhere for quarterback help—because Stafford is officially staying with the Rams.
