Mets owner Steve Cohen got real about Juan Soto’s rough start to the season. Even though the Mets are cruising with the best record in MLB, Cohen admitted that Soto hasn’t been living up to expectations so far. The outfielder is hitting just .248 with three home runs, which is a far cry from his usual dominance.

In an interview, Cohen pointed out that while Soto’s stats aren’t great, his ability to work the count and make pitchers throw more pitches is still valuable. That helps set things up for guys like Pete Alonso to drive him in. Cohen’s not too worried, though, saying Soto is focused and a pure hitter, and he’s confident things will click by the end of the season.

Mets fans have seen other big names take time to find their groove, like Francisco Lindor, who went from struggling to an MVP candidate. With Soto’s proven track record, there’s no reason to panic. The Mets are already looking strong, and as the season progresses, they’ll only get better. They’re not the underdogs anymore, and with their early lead, they’re set to be serious contenders in the National League.
