Ravens and Dolphins Battling for Calais Campbell as Veteran Weighs Options
The Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins have mostly kept things low-key in free agency, focusing on smaller signings instead of making major splashes. But with prices on available players dropping, both teams are now in the hunt for a big-name Veteran Calais Campbell.
According to The Miami Herald, the Pro Bowl defensive lineman is considering signing with either the Ravens, Dolphins, or a mystery third team. Retirement is also on the table, but the 39-year-old is expected to suit up for another season.
Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowler and member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, put up solid numbers last season with the Dolphins 35 solo tackles, 5 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss. Baltimore actually had a deal in place to trade for him before the deadline last year, but Miami head coach Mike McDaniel reportedly shut it down.
Now, with Campbell hitting free agency, the Ravens could finally bring him back after his three-year stint with the team from 2020-2022. Miami, meanwhile, may try to keep him around after a productive year. The decision is now in Campbell’s hands will he run it back for another season, or is it time to call it a career?
