Michigan’s New Playmaker: Veteran Tight End Steps Up to Lead

Michigan’s senior tight end, Marlin Klein, is stepping up as the new go-to guy after his former teammate, Colston Loveland, left for the NFL. Klein, who has been close with Loveland for the past few years, learned a lot from him, especially his consistent work ethic. Klein acknowledged that although he’s not trying to replace Loveland, he’s now the veteran in the tight end room, and he’s ready to take on the responsibility.

Last season, Michigan’s passing game struggled, ranking near the bottom of the nation. Klein’s role grew, and he played a bigger part in the offense, especially when Loveland was sidelined. With new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey on board, Klein is excited about the chance to be more involved in the passing game, and he’s focused on improving his overall consistency.

At 6-foot-6 and now weighing 255 pounds, Klein is looking stronger than ever this spring. While Michigan might have lost a first-round pick at tight end, Lindsey’s offense will continue to use the position heavily, just like he did at North Carolina. Klein is ready to show what he can do in an offense that’s poised to spread things out more this year.
