A handful of low-key but important roster moves happened around the NFL on July 28, as teams continue shaping their depth charts during training camp.
The Arizona Cardinals added some help in the secondary by signing cornerback Keni-H Lovely. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens got a boost at linebacker with Jake Hummel being activated from the non-football injury list.
In Buffalo, the Bills signed wide receiver Deon Cain, while cornerback Daryl Porter Jr. was released. The Carolina Panthers also made positive strides, activating defensive tackle Bobby Brown and punter Sam Martin from the active/NFI list.
The Cleveland Browns brought in running back Toa Taua, while the Detroit Lions added cornerback Nick Whiteside.
The Green Bay Packers activated versatile lineman Elgton Jenkins, who had been dealing with a back issue but returned to limited practice on Monday. According to USA Today’s Ryan Wood, Jenkins is adjusting to a move to center this offseason.
In Indianapolis, the Colts signed defensive tackle Josh Tupou but placed offensive tackle Jack Wilson on injured reserve.
The Miami Dolphins waived running back Nate Noel, and the Minnesota Vikings activated linebacker Chaz Chambliss from the PUP list.
Safety Josh Minkins was activated by the New England Patriots, and the New Orleans Saints released offensive tackle Josh Ball.
Running back Zach Evans, formerly with the Rams, was placed on the reserve/retired list by the New York Jets. Evans appeared in 10 games as a rookie and joined the Jets’ practice squad late last season before signing a futures deal. He’s now chosen to step away from the game.
The 49ers released wideout Quintez Cephus, while the Seahawks signed running back D.K. Kaufman and placed Kenny McIntosh on IR.
