Mock Draft Has Lions Snagging One of College Football’s Most Dangerous Pass Rushers

With the NFL Draft just around the corner, the mock drafts are heating up — and the latest one from The Draft Network’s Justin Melo has the Detroit Lions addressing their biggest needs in a big way.

Sitting at No. 28 in the first round, Melo has the Lions taking Marshall defensive lineman Mike Green, who’s been described as “one of college football’s most productive sack artists.” Detroit’s need for a pass-rush partner next to Aidan Hutchinson has only grown, especially with Hutchinson recovering from a season-ending injury. Green brings a quick first step, a deep bag of pass-rush moves, and looks ready to make an immediate impact.

In the second round, Melo has a first-round talent falling right into Detroit’s lap at pick No. 60 — Alabama guard Tyler Booker. With Kevin Zeitler signing with the Titans, there’s now a glaring hole at right guard. Booker is a mauler in the trenches with the kind of raw power and toughness Dan Campbell loves. Plug-and-play potential, no question.

Melo rounds out his Lions draft haul with:

WR Elic Ayomanor (Stanford) – A playmaker for added receiver depth (Round 3, Pick 102)

CB Jaylin Smith (USC) – Lengthy corner with upside (Round 4, Pick 130)

LB Justin Barron (Syracuse) – Smart, physical defender (Round 6, Pick 196)

OT Trey Wedig (Indiana) – Developmental tackle with size (Round 7, Pick 228)

TE Mitchell Evans (Notre Dame) – A blocking tight end to add muscle (Round 7, Pick 244)

If this draft comes even close to reality, Brad Holmes might just add another gem-filled class to his growing reputation.
