The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine has wrapped up, and that means mock draft season is in full swing. ESPN’s Jordan Reid has the Detroit Lions using their No. 28 overall pick to add some firepower to their pass rush, selecting Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College.
Ezeiruaku had a monster season, racking up 16.5 sacks—the second most in the FBS—while generating a 6.1% pressure rate, one of the highest in college football. His blend of quickness and technique helped him notch 62 pressures and force two fumbles. While he’s not an elite run defender, his ability to get after the quarterback would make him an intriguing partner for Aidan Hutchinson.
Detroit’s defense struggled with injuries last season, and bolstering the pass rush remains a priority. While there’s no guarantee Ezeiruaku will still be on the board at No. 28, if he is, Lions GM Brad Holmes could see him as the ideal complement to Hutchinson on the edge.
