For a while, Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty seemed like a lock for the Cowboys in the draft. But with Dallas picking up Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency, most mock drafts now have them going after Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden with the 12th overall pick.
Here’s a look at some other players linked to the Cowboys in recent mock drafts:
Tyler Booker, OL, Alabama
Mike Renner (CBS Sports) sees Dallas replacing another veteran with a top rookie pick. Unlike last year’s Tyler Guyton, Booker is already one of the most NFL-ready linemen in this draft class.
Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
Daniel Jeremiah (NFL.com) thinks North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton is still a possibility, but Golden makes more sense. He’d be a great deep threat alongside CeeDee Lamb. Rob Rang (Fox Sports) agrees, pointing out that Golden’s blazing 4.29-second 40-yard dash at the Combine solidified his first-round status.
Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina
Mel Kiper Jr. (ESPN) isn’t ruling out another running back, even after the Cowboys’ recent signings. He believes Hampton could be the game-changer they need in the backfield.
Derrick Harmon, DL, Oregon
Nate Tice and Charles McDonald (Yahoo Sports) say Harmon isn’t a big sack guy, but he’d be a solid fit in Dallas’ defense, capable of stopping both the run and pass.
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
Pro Football Network still thinks Jeanty is in play despite the Cowboys adding Williams and Sanders. If Dallas wants to truly fix its struggling run game, Jeanty could be the missing piece.
James Pearce Jr., Edge, Tennessee
Chris Trapasso (CBS Sports) says the Cowboys shouldn’t pass up the chance to grab Pearce, an elite pass-rushing talent.
Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
John Kosko (Pro Football Focus) highlights Dallas’ need for another reliable weapon outside of Lamb. Warren is a versatile tight end who could help both as a blocker and a receiving threat.
With the draft approaching, it’s clear the Cowboys have plenty of options. Whether they go all-in on offense or add depth to their defense, Jerry Jones and Co. have some big decisions to make.
