Montgomery Connects with Community Through Youth Camp at Sexton High

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery made the most of his Sunday off from OTAs — not by resting, but by giving back. Montgomery was in Lansing, where he hosted a youth football camp at Sexton High School, welcoming kids from the area who share a love for football and, of course, the Lions.

The event was all about creating a positive environment for young athletes, giving them a chance to learn, grow, and interact with a pro who knows the grind it takes to make it to the NFL. Montgomery took time to speak with the kids, run drills, and offer advice both on and off the field.

He told News 10 that giving back is something that’s always been important to him — and doing it in Lansing was a meaningful choice. “It’s more than just football,” Montgomery said. “It’s about building up the next generation, showing them they matter and that anything’s possible.”

Montgomery’s presence lit up the field — not just because of his status as a Lions star, but because of the way he engaged with the kids. For many of them, it was an unforgettable experience, and for Montgomery, it was just another way to make an impact beyond the game.
