Motor City Bound: Lions Select Alabama’s Finest in 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes has a history of drafting players from Alabama. Since taking over as GM in 2021, Holmes has selected Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, and Terrion Arnold from the Crimson Tide.

In his 2025 NFL Mock Draft 1.0, Dan Parr of (link unavailable) has the Lions selecting LB/EDGE Jihaad Campbell out of Alabama with the No. 28 overall pick.

Campbell’s stats include:

  • 13 games played in 2024
  • 117 tackles
  • 12 tackles for loss
  • 5 sacks
  • 1 interception

If the Lions select Campbell, they will be getting an explosive defender who makes plays. However, it raises the question of whether the Lions need another linebacker in the first round, given their needs on the defensive line and potentially on the offensive line.

Brad Holmes has emphasized selecting the best football player available, rather than focusing solely on team needs. If Campbell is available at No. 28, the Lions will likely consider him.
