Myles Garrett has officially requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, which will undoubtedly spark speculation across the NFL. Given his ties to Texas, one team likely to be mentioned in those conversations is the Dallas Cowboys.
Born and raised in Arlington, Garrett has deep connections to the area. Before the Cowboys’ season opener, he shared that many of his family members are still loyal fans of the team. His desire to play for Dallas isn’t new either.
Ahead of the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett famously recorded a video making a public plea to Dak Prescott, asking him to help the Cowboys trade up to draft him. “Please, I’d love to play in Dallas,” Garrett said. “Just make it happen.”
However, the Cowboys didn’t make a move, and Garrett went first overall to the Browns. Dallas selected Taco Charlton out of Michigan, a decision that didn’t pan out as hoped.
Fast forward to today—two potential trade scenarios have surfaced. The first would be a pre-draft deal, sending Cleveland the No. 12 and No. 44 picks in 2025, along with a first and fourth-rounder in 2026. The second would be a post-draft trade involving first and second-round picks in both 2026 and 2027.
On paper, the proposals seem reasonable. But there’s a catch: Jerry Jones still calls the shots in Dallas. While the Cowboys’ owner has expressed a desire to win now, whether he’s willing to make such a bold move remains uncertain.
Still, it’s an enticing possibility to imagine Garrett teaming up with Micah Parsons to create a defensive duo that would wreak havoc on opponents. Cowboys fans can dream, and perhaps, just maybe, Jones might be “all-in” on making it a reality.
