Josh Berry has been making laps on the track, not headlines in tabloids. But a brief moment from his past continues to follow him into interviews. The NASCAR driver once went to school with Taylor Swift—a fun fact that fans and media can’t seem to let go of.
“It’s one of those things when you’re doing an interview one day and somebody’s like, ‘Hey, what’s a funny, crazy story about you?’” Berry said during a recent appearance on Rubbin’ Is Racing. “I’m like, ‘Oh, I went to school with Taylor Swift.’ You don’t think that’s that big of a deal. But good gosh, man. It never ends.”
No Friendship, Just Familiarity
Despite the persistent fascination, Berry is quick to clarify that there was no personal connection between him and the pop superstar.
“She was in a different grade,” he explained. “I didn’t really know her. I know of somebody who knew her kind of deal. But I didn’t really know her.”
Swift, originally from Pennsylvania, transitioned to homeschooling in Tennessee when her music career began to take off—further limiting any chance of interaction between the two.
Enter Kelce—And Berry’s Clear Boundaries
What started as light chatter about Swift eventually steered toward her high-profile relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce. Berry’s reaction? A clear boundary.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t care about Travis Kelce. He has nothing to do with me.’ It just never ends,” Berry said, expressing his fatigue with the constant celebrity-related questions.
While fans are eager to discuss Swift and Kelce’s fairytale romance, Berry seems ready to stick to what he knows best—racing.
Swift and Kelce: A Private Romance in the Public Eye
Swift and Kelce have been dating since 2023 and, according to insiders, they’re already dreaming of their future. A source told RadarOnline, “Taylor has her future planned out to a tee. She wants to get married and start a family and now is the time.”
The couple has reportedly been house-hunting, with a strong preference for Montana’s peaceful, paparazzi-free landscape.
“They love Montana. No paparazzi, no pressure. Just mountains, good food, and close friends,” a source told Yahoo Entertainment. “It’s their happy place… very off-the-grid.”
Kelce’s Commitment to the Game
Despite whispers that Kelce might hang up his cleats, the Chiefs tight end made it clear he’s not done yet.
“I feel like there’s a responsibility in me to play out the contract that I initially signed… and that’s what I’m gonna do, man,” Kelce said following his team’s Super Bowl loss.

“With Josef, we were both in school at the same time but we really didn’t know each of us raced,” Berry shared. “He didn’t really know I raced, I didn’t really know he raced. We were around each other, but didn’t really connect the dots.”
