Alabama basketball just picked up another solid player from the transfer portal. After recently adding 7-footer Noah Williamson from Bucknell, they’ve now landed Florida State forward Taylor Bol Bowen.
Bowen is a 6’10” stretch four who brings size, defensive skill, and the ability to hit from deep. Last season at Florida State, he averaged 8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in about 25 minutes per game. He also hit over 41% of his threes, showing he can really stretch the floor.
On defense, Bowen is especially impressive. His block rate ranked among the top 70 in the country, and he posted strong defensive numbers overall. Coach Nate Oats is clearly focused on improving the team’s defense, and Bowen looks like a perfect fit. He can guard multiple positions and protect the rim with his length.
