After 13 bruising, brilliant seasons in the NFL, five-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is officially calling it a career.
Suh announced his retirement with the same grace and intensity that marked his time on the field. In a video released to fans, he reflected on a journey that began as the No. 2 overall pick by the Detroit Lions in 2010 and took him across the league — from Miami to L.A., from Tampa Bay to Philadelphia — chasing greatness and leaving a trail of battered offensive lines in his wake.
“I’m officially retiring from the NFL,” Suh said. “It’s been an incredible ride. I’m thankful for every moment — the wins, the battles, the teammates, and even the challenges. I gave this game everything I had.”
Suh was more than just a dominant force in the trenches. He was one of the most feared and respected defenders of his era. A cornerstone of the Lions’ defense during his early years, he made an immediate impact, earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and becoming a Pro Bowler in his first season. His raw power, relentless motor, and no-nonsense attitude made him a nightmare for quarterbacks and a pillar of every defense he joined.
Over the years, Suh evolved from a wild and aggressive young star into a seasoned veteran and leader. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers in 2021 and was a key voice in locker rooms wherever he went.
Suh finishes his career with 71.5 sacks, over 600 tackles, and countless memories — good, bad, and unforgettable.
He may have terrorized offensive lines for over a decade, but now, Suh turns the page. What comes next? That’s still to be seen — but whatever it is, expect him to attack it with the same fire he brought to the gridiron.
For Lions fans, and NFL fans in general, one thing is clear: The game won’t be the same without No. 93.
