The Crimson Tide’s latest recruiting class is packed with talented newcomers who are ready to make an immediate impact. With several freshmen poised to contribute early, Alabama’s coaching staff is excited to see these young players develop. Here are the top five freshmen to keep an eye on:
- Michael Carroll – Interior Offensive Lineman
Carroll is a 5-star recruit and the highest-rated interior offensive lineman to sign with Alabama in the modern recruiting era. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound lineman from Georgia is expected to compete for the starting spot at left guard or secure a rotational role. Carroll’s impressive strength, athleticism, and technique make him a prime candidate to contribute early.
- Dijon Lee – Cornerback
Lee is a talented cornerback who can also play safety. The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back from Florida is known for his exceptional speed, agility, and ball skills. With Alabama’s thin depth at cornerback, Lee is likely to see significant playing time in 2025. His ability to play multiple positions in the secondary will be valuable for the Crimson Tide’s defense.
- Akylin Dear – Running Back
Dear is a 4-star recruit with a college-ready body and impressive speed. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back from Texas is expected to compete for playing time in Alabama’s backfield. With Justice Haynes’ transfer to Michigan leaving around 100 carries up for grabs, Dear could get plenty of looks early. His combination of size, speed, and power makes him a promising prospect.
- Derek Meadows – Wide Receiver
Meadows is a 4-star recruit with a chance to become an immediate red-zone weapon. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound wide receiver from Georgia is the tallest wide receiver on Alabama’s roster and has impressive athletic abilities. Meadows’ size, strength, and leaping ability make him a prime target for quarterback Ty Simpson in the end zone.
- Keelon Russell – Quarterback
Russell is a 5-star recruit and the highest-rated quarterback to enroll at Alabama since Bryce Young in 2020. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback from Texas is known for his exceptional arm talent, athleticism, and leadership skills. Russell could threaten Ty Simpson’s starting spot or sit and develop during his true freshman season. His long-term potential is extremely high, and Alabama’s coaching staff is excited to see him grow.
