Speaking at the NFL’s annual meetings, Daboll explained that he usually skips these events, preferring private workouts where the team can evaluate players outside of the structured Pro Day setting. This isn’t a new approach—he also skipped Miami’s Pro Day last week, despite the hype around QB Cam Ward.
Daboll did make an exception last year for LSU’s Pro Day, where both Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers were working out, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be making one for Sanders. When asked about the Giants’ interest in quarterbacks, Daboll stayed vague, saying they’ve done “extensive work” on multiple prospects.
General manager Joe Schoen backed that up, noting that the team doesn’t necessarily need to take a QB with the No. 3 pick after signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
As for Sanders’ chances with the Giants? Daboll kept it diplomatic, saying he has “tremendous respect” for Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders, but left it at that. So while Sanders is one of the top names in this draft class, there’s no clear indication that New York is seriously considering him—at least not yet.
