NFL Analyst: Lions Can Upgrade Offense with This No-Brainer Move

Should the Lions Bring Back Tim Patrick to Bolster WR Depth?

The Detroit Lions have their sights set on improving their defense this offseason, but they can’t afford to overlook depth concerns on offense—especially at wide receiver.

With questions about the bottom of their WR group, NFL.com analyst Kevin Patra suggests re-signing Tim Patrick could be a smart, low-risk move. Patrick, who joined the Lions in 2024, recorded 33 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns. While those numbers weren’t flashy, he fit Detroit’s offensive system well and could provide reliable depth behind stars like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

General manager Brad Holmes has made it clear that adding explosive playmakers remains a priority, whether through free agency or the draft. While Patrick isn’t a game-changer like Jahmyr Gibbs, bringing back a veteran who already knows the system could be an easy way to maintain continuity and keep the offense rolling in 2025.
