DeMarcus Lawrence sent shockwaves through Cowboys Nation last week when he ditched Dallas for Seattle, signing a three-year deal with the Seahawks. But he didn’t stop there—he made sure to take a parting shot at his former team, telling a Seattle blogger that he never believed he’d win a Super Bowl in Dallas.
That didn’t sit well with his ex-teammate Micah Parsons, who wasted no time firing back on social media. Parsons called Lawrence a “clown,” and Lawrence clapped back with, “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.” Yikes.
Now, Cowboys legend Michael Irvin has entered the chat—and he’s backing Parsons all the way. Speaking on FS1’s Speak, Irvin didn’t hold back.
“I’m absolutely going with Micah Parsons here,” Irvin said. “I love D Law—great guy, played well for Dallas. But you can’t act like you weren’t part of the reason they didn’t win a Super Bowl.”
Irvin even threw in a classic analogy, calling the Cowboys’ defense the “Oprah Winfrey defense”—as in, “You rush for 200 yards! You rush for 200! Everybody rushes for 200!” He put the blame squarely on Lawrence, saying, “That’s on him.”
Irvin, who won three Super Bowls with Dallas in the ’90s, knows what it takes to bring a championship back to Big D. And according to him, taking shots at your old team on the way out isn’t the way to do it.
